Jonathan Lovitz to be honored at PAM's opening ceremonies

Alumnus Jonathan D. Lovitz will present the keynote address at the opening ceremonies of Pride Awareness Month at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2014 in Emerson Alumni Hall. Pride Awareness Month, otherwise known as “PAM,” is an annual monthlong series of events focused on highlighting the culture and lives of the individuals who make up the LGBT community at the University of Florida. Lovitz will also be honored by PAM as a distinguished alumni.

After graduating from UF with degrees in Theatre Performance and History, Lovitz began touring with some of Broadway’s biggest productions, including Joseph…Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar. In addition to a successful career onstage and onscreen, Lovitz is an advocate for the LGBT community and has dedicated himself to a plethora of causes dear to him.

Lovitz became passionate as an advocate after his career turned from theatre to television in 2011. As a host and news anchor for MTV and Logo TV, Lovitz was asked by LGBT organizations nationwide to advocate, fundraise and speak on their behalf. Ever since then he has traveled across the country speaking to colleges, pride events, businesses and members of Congress about the importance of advocacy and the growing intersection of supporting diversity in education and commerce.
